Weddings
Can I get married at Emmanuel? The Church of England has an extensive website (www.yourchurchwedding.org) where you will find answers to most of your questions regarding marriage. These guidelines will have been adapted by individual churches to suit their own particular style. All couples who wish to get married at Emmanuel are expected to complete marriage preparation time with the person marrying them.
If you are looking to get married in church, we would encourage you, as a first step, to attend one of our Sunday services (9am, 10.30am or 5.30pm) and speak to one of our team, either Tim Meathrel or Nina Smith Oskarsdottir or alternatively contact the Church office.
Baptisms
Can I have my baby baptised at Emmanuel?
Yes, we encourage families to have their children baptised at Emmanuel.
At the baptism of your baby you, as parents, are making a public decision to start him/her on the journey of faith, asking for the church's support. You will be asked to declare publicly on behalf of your child that you believe in God and that you will bring your child up to follow Jesus.
We also offer a service of blessing and thanksgiving for the gift of your baby. Baptism can follow later if either you or your child wants to make a commitment of faith.
If you are interested in having your child baptised, we encourage you attend our 10.30am Sunday service with your family and speak to one of our team, either Tim Meathrel or Nina Smith Oskarsdottir.
Funerals
If you have been recently bereaved, we are sorry for your loss. We only take funerals for church members, those who have a connection with Emmanuel or if the deceased lived in the parish. If these criteria apply to you, please contact the Church office.
