At Emmanuel we love our young people and try to create a place where they can meet new friends, have fun together, meet Jesus, encounter him and learn more about the bible as they seek to live out their faith at home and at school. We have regular weekly groups and one-off activities for our young people from socials and hangout spaces to discipleship groups and worship nights.
Sunday Groups
10:30am | EXTATIC
On Sunday mornings during our 10.30am service our EXATIC group meets. The young people are divided into two groups, Older Youth (Years 10-13) and Younger Youth (Years 7-9). The young people usually start in the church service and then move to the Loft and Coffee shop. We often study the Bible in lots of different ways to help our young people in their discipleship. We love to practise praying together to encourage encounters with God and have lively discussions as we talk about issues of life and faith.
5.30pm Service
Some of our young people, especially our older youth, attend our evening service and serve in the worship band, tech team and more. A group usually sit together; you would be so welcome to join us.
EVENING CHILL- 3rd Sunday of the month | 7pm-8pm |Years 9-13
All youth in years 9-13 are welcome to join us after the 5.30pm service on the third Sunday of the month for food, relaxed conversation and games.
Midweek
TOGETHER- Tuesday evenings 7.00-8.30pm | Years 7-13
TOGETHER is our discipleship evening. It’s a great place for our young people to build strong friendships and grow deeper in their faith. Each week is different, but we regularly enjoy team games, social time, conversations about key issues and the Bible. We love to create space to encounter God through prayer, biblical mediation and practising hearing from God.
TOGETHER topics have included Encountering God, Relationships and Can We Trust the Bible?
THE HANGOUT- 1st Friday of the month | 7.30pm-9pm | Years 7-13
HANGOUT is a place for young people from our church and community to meet and socialise. It’s a great place to invite friends and get to know new people. There’s something for everyone from table tennis and pool to craft making, board games, karaoke and football. There is also a tuck shop and young people can bring money form snacks
Special Events
Youth Worship Nights at Bishop Ramsey School
Each term Bishop Ramsey school host a worship night for all young people in Years 7-13 across many schools and youth groups locally. The worship is led by our worship Pastor Matt Bird and a great band of young people. There is an inspiring talk and a chance to meet other young people. We take a group from Emmanuel to these nights.
Youth Weekend Away
We take our young people on annual Youth Weekend’s Away at local activity centres. The young people have an opportunity to spend an extended time together, encounter God
through worship and prayer, practise hearing God speak, hear great talks and take time to be in God’s Presence. We also have a programme of fun activities like axe-throwing, slack lines, and bouldering. Youth Weekends are great for team building and getting to know others in a fun and relaxed environment.
Other Socials
In addition to our regular weekly and monthly groups and activities we have social events such as Putt & Play, Youth BBQs, trips to the fireworks, decorating the Christmas tree social, street games and much more. We also run meet-ups for parents, regular parenting courses for those parenting teenagers and whole church events to support parents like the Naked Truth Trust event.
